Outlook
The scope of activities can be extended in many ways, depending on members’ priorities and financial development. Possible future activities include:
Web-Forum
- DP:B-M will introduce web-based members-only forums which will allow non-Brussels based participants to contribute to the debate and ensure a truly multilateral and international dimension;
- The topics will be chosen following wide consultation and taking into account current events and requests by members, partners and sponsors;
- DP:B-M will invite external experts to contribute to the web forums in order to further stimulate the debate;
- A time-limit of three months will be set to allow thorough coverage of a topic and to elaborate a “State of Play” discussion report drafted by an independent journalist and presented at a press conference;
- Furthermore, these “State of Play” discussion reports will be forwarded to relevant decision-makers and political leaders;
- Chatham House Rules: participants’ comments will not be personally attributed nor will they be directly quoted after the discussions. Participants can additionally opt to write comments anonymously.
Interactive Member Database
- The interactive member database will be for members-only to foster peer-to-peer networking;
- All members will have an individual login and can give their fields of specialisation, fields of interest and contact details;
- Each member can change his or her entry at any time;
- The database will also show who participated at what event;
- This is an ideal tool for networking and connecting with other stakeholders interested in EU-Russian relations.
Members Receptions
- Regular DP:B-M Members Receptions could be are a way of fostering the network;
- Members could meet in a more informal atmosphere, without an agenda, but possibly with a link to a cultural event or scientific issue;
Pre-Summit Meetings
- Pre-Summit Meetings will be special events prior to an EU-Russia Summit; together with key actors of this summit;
- DP:B-M’s members will discuss the upcoming event and can give comments and recommendations
EU-Russia Conference
- An EU-Russia Conference is planned at the end of the 3-year project term;
- A regular (annual) EU-Russia Conference could be established if deemed useful;
- It could be a one- or two-day conference with speakers and panellists invited from ministerial and commissioner level;
Newsletter
- A DP:B-M e-Newsletter could provide regular news updates and articles related to the EU and Russia;
- Members could chose between “All News” or various “Subjects” such as Aviation, Trade, Environment,…;
Missions
- DP:B-M could organise Missions for its members to various relevant destinations covering specific issues;
- For example: meeting(s) in the capital of the upcoming presiding EU Member State, a delegation to a Russian region meeting political decision-makers, business people and representatives of civil society…
